This Privacy Policy describes how Conflict Watch ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and handles personal information when you use our platform or request an invitation. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information we collect

Account information
When you are granted access, we store your name, email address, and the date your account was created. Passwords are stored as salted cryptographic hashes — we cannot recover your plaintext password.

Invitation requests
If you submit an invitation request, we collect your name, email, professional role, company name, and the optional notes you include. This information is used solely to evaluate access requests.

Platform usage analytics
We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to understand how the platform is used in aggregate. Umami does not collect personally identifiable information and does not use tracking cookies.

Theme preference
We store your light/dark display preference in a browser cookie named cw_theme. This cookie contains no personal information and is not shared with third parties.

Session data
Standard session cookies are used to keep you authenticated. These expire when your session ends or after a period of inactivity.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information only for the following purposes:
- · To provide and maintain your access to the platform
- · To communicate with you about your subscription and account
- · To evaluate invitation requests
- · To improve the platform through aggregate, anonymised usage data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data retention
We retain your account information for the duration of your subscription and for a period of up to two years following termination, after which it is deleted. Invitation requests that are not approved are retained for up to six months.
You may request earlier deletion of your personal information at any time (see Section 5).
4. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services in the operation of the platform:

SendGrid
Used to deliver transactional email (account notifications, invitation confirmations). Your email address is transmitted to SendGrid for the purpose of delivery.

Umami Analytics
Privacy-focused, cookieless analytics. No personal data is collected or transmitted.

Google reCAPTCHA v3
Used on the invitation request form to detect automated submissions. Google's privacy policy applies to reCAPTCHA interactions.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, and request deletion of your personal information.

6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify active subscribers by email prior to the change taking effect.
